To You, My Father

· 1 min read
Painting of a father carrying his daughter on his shoulders as she reaches towards a yellow star

You who carry the world without bending beneath its weight,
Silent hero, with hands full of faith,
Every word, every gesture, a refuge, a shelter,
A beacon in the night, a love without end.

In your eyes, wisdom, strength and hope,
A fire that lights my days and evenings.
As Hugo writes, a father is a treasure,
Far more than a teacher, a guide of gold.

You built dreams through effort,
Giving without counting, asking nothing of fate.
Your immense love, like the ocean,
Unfolds endlessly, gentle and constant.

You are my compass, my greatest role model,
The example that sets the bar so high for everyone.
Since I was little, I have found safety
Only in your arms, where everything felt protected.

Dad, you are my living encyclopedia,
The one whose every word enlightens and enchants.
Everything I know, everything I see,
It is through you that I learn, with faith.

Today I write to you, moved by emotion,
These imperfect words, so full of admiration.
Dad, be certain, wherever I may be,
My heart will always beat close to yours.

Happy birthday, Dad.
